I was digging through some library digital archives and found these few photos of a Mars rover simulation we did in the library back in 2004.
This is ground control. They are behind some upended tables so that their only visual of the "rover" is on screen. They are observing progress, recording observations, and directing the rover by walkie-talkie (proceed north, 3 meters).
This is the camera providing their video feed (on a short leash!).
Here is the image they are using to send directions to the rover.
The rover is describing shape, size and observations of terrain and formations.
Rover is using its picker-upper armature to secure a sample for closer description.
I believe this was an end-of-the-semester science lab. A great opportunity to inject some non-standard use for technology.
