Learning by seeing: murals
Good for history; leading me link by link. I was reading over a recently tagged "The Way We Were" article which led me on a reflective search for WPA murals. I ended up at this Web 1.0 work-horse-type site that chases down the location and artists for many of those murals; one of those life's-work efforts that suck me in. The scope of the Federal Art Project took on new meaning for me as I clicked through the hundreds of post offices and schools that earned artwork from this program. Some interesting images from artists who grew into modern art icons: Milton Avery, for one.
