My Day

Began by doing today's 1902 post to our Darwin Craig student blog. Then I checked in at the auditorium to be sure my laptop/projector setup was running OK for the BOCES presentation. Next, I scanned a fifteen page "immigrant diary" that a student had written. I reassembled it in Pages, exported it as a pdf, then uploaded it to Issuu. I embedded the results on the Library Commons page and in this blog. In the course of the day, I shared the results with the student and teacher.

Loaned a Flip camera to a student for Spanish project we discussed yesterday.

Invited a fifth grade teacher and her class to visit our Pearl Harbor installation in the library. Also wrote a script for a video about it. Enjoyed a great discussion with a high school student about the map: he is a long time reader about that period in history. Our conversation led my loaning him some foam-core board towards a project of his own.

Also had a good book talk with a student who had just read our copy of The Summer of the Bear. She is reading Swamplandia next.

Did the voiceover to Pearl harbor film once the library emptied out at 2:30.
