If you have 8 minutes, watch the video on this page entitled "Most Terrifying Video You'll Ever See." It is an elegant and powerful analysis of how one might decide on action or inaction concerning the possibility of climate change. It is also a call/guide on how to influence public policy. Does a nice job of using the kind of graphic representation we already use in our classrooms.
You may also find the "100 Year Letter Project" at this site as useful exercise to adapt to your class; writing to great grandchildren about the environment of their world.
