During this cold February I have been reading a number of different books. I am doing a slow deliberate read of the Selected Poems of Wallace Stevens; not the easiest going, but something that has been on my to-do list for years. (With books of poetry that I own, I always circle the number of the page in the TOC if the poem makes a strong connection for me.)
I enjoyed a recent ACSLIB book, The 40s: The Story of a Decade: biographies, poems, and contemporaneous book and movie reviews from The New Yorker, as well as some first hand pieces of WWII.
Winter brings me around to re-reading also. And one of my favorites is 42nd Parallel from the U.S.A. trilogy by John Dos Passos. It brings the pre-WWI years of boom and bust America to life for me like nothing else I have experienced.
