Right time, right place

Barn loft painting

The matter of this painting
clotted thirty years
started radiating
when sunlit from the rear

the color on the canvas
opaque just like my thoughts
flamed with new transparence
more window pane than cloth

the light behind ideas sleep
then serendipity strikes
art awakes and finally leaps
from intention to sweet sight.

This is weird, because yesterday I though of this painting as I was trying to do a sketch for a mock-up graphic novel and I wanted to depict a similar moment, but with a husband and wife, with the husband as Joe in the middle and the wife as Grandpa on the left. It came out similar without seeing the painting! The wife has the leg positioning as Grandma but on the left and the upper body of Grandpa and the husband has his hands on top of his head but the same otherwise. Eerie.

And do you have a picture of the dinosaur you made in the art library class one year? Was in an anklyosaurous?
