Have you used the "Street View" in Google Maps? Any time the "LEGO-like" character above the zoom-control is yellow, you can drag him/her onto a street; and presto, you are there in the street: a mobile, head-turning tourist.
It offers great applications for foreign language classes to visit and observe urban environments, and would provide a tool for Social Studies students to, say, assess urban venues in comparison to economic data about them.
