Winter World gathering

We hosted a seasonal gathering for the school community yesterday after school as closure for our common read of Winter World by Bernd Heinrich: cocoa, cookies, books, and a crackling fire.

Here is the text of my invite:

Seasons Greetings,

I'll be after school from 2:30 to 4:00 today stoking the blaze in the library fireplace. I have a stash of milk chocolate Milano cookies (at least at the moment I do), hot cocoa, Constant Comment tea, cushy chairs, and not much ambition towards an agenda.

If you'd like to swing by a moment to take a load off, or filch a cookie; we'd love to have you. If you'd like to share a recent good read, that would be fine too. And if you are a Common Reader of Winter World, you get to sit nearest the fireplace and get first dibs on the s'mores.

It's a pause before winter; a library interlude to reflect, regale, and otherwise relax with fellow ACSers. If I don't get up when you arrive, just kick of your slushy boots off by the door, hang you parka on any peg you can find, and help yourself to whatever you can find.
