The Home Front

The student teacher for U.S. History is preparing a hands-on introduction to his WWII unit. I have scanned and posted several dozen images from copies of the Glens Falls Times that he has from that era.

I am supplementing his resources with WWII era copies of Life, Flying, and Skyways magazines that I own.

It has also prompted me, at long last, to move newspaper clippings in our collection to sheet protectors so that they may be more readily used by students. These particular clippings are weekly CEHISCANY articles written by the Afton journalism class for our local weekly community newspaper of the time: The Afton Enterprise. They are rich with school and community news and they provide a real snapshot of the Home Front during that era (In February 1943, Student Council proposed and passed legislation allowing female students to wear slacks in school!).
