Be a maker


The drawing above and the painting below are both self-portraits by Albrecht Dürer (1471- 1528).

He did the self-portrait drawing when he was thirteen.

Turns out, it is the earliest known self-portrait drawing done in European art!  Thirteen years old.

So it turns out too, it wasn’t about whether it was the best thing he ever did in his life,
just that it was something he had done with his life.

Albrecht went on to be the most gifted and famous artist during the Renaissance in Northern Europe which is nice, but that he used his time one day when he was thirteen to see how good he could be - that is inspiring even 500 years later.
