Graphic novelist: page one
Having been a fan of Lynd Ward's woodcuts, I was delighted to see the Library of America publish two volumes of his "novels in woodcuts." Created between 1929 and 1937 the six wordless stories constitute the emergence of this storytelling form in U.S. and, of course, are must-"reading" for graphic novel fans.
Myself, I'll be showing them to our HS art teacher. I'm thinking they provide a great model for an illustration assignment.
