Just finished a swell article in the School Library Journal about "serious games:" online games that address contemporary social and global issues. The author of the article is a cofounder of Games for Change, an organization to “to harness the power of video games to address the most pressing issues of our day, including poverty, education, human rights, global conflict, and climate change…."
The selection I have placed in a sidebar of this blog range from an "Oregon Trail-type" experience in Haiti ( Ayiti: The Cost of Life) that illustrates the grips of poverty to Gauging your Distraction which demonstrates the difficulty of texting and driving simultaneously.
I look forward to sharing these with students and faculty at ACS.
