Trees: a template for creativity

Recently, I have read two articles (BlldgBlog and New Yorker) about the Tree Museum in the Bronx; a conceptual art project featuring dial-up dissertations based on 100 trees growing along the Grand Concourse. It strikes me as wonderful template (excuse) for creative writing and scientific observations in our own community: tagged trees or innocuous landmarks with accompanying web addresses that lead to student writing, artwork, or research about adjacent inspiration or phenomenon.
