We welcomed the back-door arrival of a digital document camera the other day. First thing we did was try it out on our archive of historic school documents. Neat. We have begun placing these images in our district shared drive so that teachers might have ready access to what was once an unknown and virtually untapped resource.Meanwhile, some universities are rethinking their rare-book collections; allowing hands-on, gloves-off access to undergraduates as a way to "enter a world we have lost and understand how it was."
